Called a contemporary impressionist, Kathy Perales paints what her heart tells her is there.
The artist inside was always there, striving to appear even while she taught fourth grade and then especially when she taught art to 750 K-6th grade elementary students. Now retired from public school teaching, she can devote more time to painting. She says, "At this time in my art journey, there are no deep, dark hidden meanings in my art. Nope, I want my work to bring happiness to the viewer."
Katherine Kenagy Perales has been fascinated with art all of her life. She studied education and art at Southwest Texas State University and while teaching, was awarded a Masters of Education with a minor in art from UTSA. She is an artist, art educator and teacher.
Kathy is a member and a past President of the Canyon Lake Art Guild, a member and past President of the New Braunfels Art League and partner in the Art Cottage Gallery. She has studied with Vie Dunn Harr, Terry Madden, Jeannette McDougall in Auvillar, France, Tom Lynch, Don Ward, Ron Rencher and Qiang Huang. She feels that she is blessed to be around such creative forces. Her work can be found in private collections internationally.
Kathy says, “The best part of my painting experience is seeing what the paint wants to do and what the painting wants to become. Making someone smile warms my heart and keeps me painting. I am grateful for the Lord's blessings."
